An Outlander Experience: Herbs of Scotland
Yesterday, I was very fortunate enough to participate in the Vaughan Public Library lecture series Through Craigh na Dun: An Outlander Experience channelling my inner Claire Fraser: whisky, herbs, Highlands, Kilts!
Dressed in a 1740s outfit, I shared my adventures of wandering through Scotland, becoming a herbalist and some of the fun but often regretful mistakes I have made along the way learning hard lessons on how to work with plants for medicine.
With lots of laughs, I brewed and shared Bilberry tea, and offered homemade Elderberry Syrup to the group while everyone was able to take home some rosemary grown from our One Acre Garden and a recipe to make it into a tincture or oxymel. Then is was off to participate in a traditional Scottish gathering - a Cèilidh. It brought back so many wonderful memories!
